Our Approach to Sustainable Practices
"Green" policies we currently practice:
- We are FSC certified as of June 2007
- We purchase 100% renewable wind power
- We use inks that are low to no VOC emission
- We recycle our waste ink
- We have a recycling coordinator and "Green Team"
- We work with Weyerhaeuser to recycle all our waste paper products
- We recycle cans, plastics, aluminum, glass and styrofoam peanuts
- We eliminated styrofoam cups and use reusable alumium mugs as well as corn mugs
- Our "house" envelopes are 100% PCW, FSC certified and have biodegradable windows made from cornstarch
- Our "house" copier paper is 100% recycled
- Our carbonless paper uses organically based carbonless capsules
- Our house recycled paper is 50% recycled/25% post consumer and FSC certified
- Our building is equipped with automated climate controls to adjust heating and cooling during non-production hours
- Our shipping boxes are 100% recycled (80% post consumer and 20% industrial)
- We had the City of Portland install bicycle racks in front of our building to encourage employees to ride their bikes to work
- We sequence our print jobs for ink colors to minimize use of washup chemicals
- We use an aerator on our lunchroom sink to minimize water consumption
- We educate our clients on methods to make their project more environmentally friendly (i.e. recommend papers with recycled content, but if a virgin sheet is necessary, consider one that is FSC certified)
